NRC considering 80 year life span for nukes?

In an article today on the impact of Fukushima, the Wall Street Journal buried this bombshell in the third paragraph:

Regulators are conducting research to see if U.S. reactors could be pushed to 80 years.

According to the CIA World Factbook for 2011, the average American can expect to live for 78.37 years….
