Vermont Yankee can’t find a buyer

This should come as no surprise, but Entergy has failed to find a buyer for its troubled and possibly soon-to-be-closed Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant. The news comes on the heals of an announcement and subsequent retraction of a power purchase agreement with a Vermont utility. Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin held a press conference to present evidence from the Vermont Electric Cooperative that no such deal had been finalized.

Vermont is unique among the states in being able to vote to deny re-licensing of its nuclear plant. Gov. Shumlin favors closing Vermont Yankee.
